Filip & Company law firm has provided legal assistance to ENGIE Romania, one of Romania’s leading energy suppliers and distributors, in relation to the contracting of a EUR 90 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance new green energy projects with a total estimated capacity of at least 250MW that are to be developed by 2028.
The transaction contributes to increasing ENGIE’s production capacity from renewable sources, thereby helping to reduce carbon emissions and achieve the energy transition objectives of the ENGIE Group and, implicitly, those of Romania.
“Investments in green projects are essential for a cleaner and more secure energy system, and the involvement of trusted partners shows that we are on the right track. This is an important project with real impact at a time when sustainability is no longer just a goal. ENGIE is taking concrete and tangible steps towards energy transition, and this financing from the EBRD is a clear endorsement of this approach. We would like to thank the ENGIE team for their trust and excellent cooperation”, said Alexandru Bîrsan, managing partner at Filip & Company.
The Filip & Company team that assisted ENGIE in this transaction was led by Alexandru Bîrsan (managing partner) and Camelia Ianțuc (senior associate) and included Rebecca Marina (counsel) and Raluca Biță (associate).
