Daniel Mazilu is a member of Filip & Company’s Dispute Resolution team, specialising in commercial and administrative disputes.
In parallel, Daniel has a strong track record in public procurement (public tenders), assisting bidders/candidates throughout major procedures, including administrative challenges, and delivering tailored training sessions for clients’ teams involved in procurement processes.
He is also frequently involved in insolvency & restructuring projects, acting both for creditors and debtors in insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings and supporting complex recovery strategies in distressed scenarios.
Highlights of his activity include assisting:
- the Romanian Government in a major ICSID arbitration against a private investor in the energy sector.
- a major Romanian contractor specialized in municipal construction works and thermal rehabilitation of district heating network, in multiple procurement-related challenges and review proceedings, concerning tenders with a combined estimated value exceeding EUR 5 billion.
- a leading global company in the nuclear sector in critical public procurement procedures initiated by Nuclearelectrica, with a total value of approximately EUR 300 million.
- a Turkish constructor in a procurement procedure for the construction of an emergency hospital, with an estimated value of over EUR 400 million.
- an international investment fund in the recovery of claims of approximately EUR 52 million in insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings involving several companies in the agricultural sector, including support in complex restructuring activities.
- a leading Romanian automobile importer (part of a global manufacturer group) in 50+ public procurement procedures for the supply of vehicles to various authorities and public institutions.
- a pharmaceutical company in an IP dispute over an advertising spot against one of the biggest Romanian record labels, helping the client obtain a favourable final decision.
