George specializes in assisting and representing clients in controversies related to tax and commercial law, especially those requiring an international and comparative perspective. Although he feels at home in regulatory related disputes, he is also proficient in handling complex commercial litigation projects, involving coordination & management of several dispute teams. George Trantea is member of the Bucharest Bar Association as of 2008 and of Paris Bar Association as of 2013.
Highlights of his activity include assisting:
- a FMCG producer in tax disputes related to VAT, profit tax (management fees) and Transfer Pricing aspects and representing them before the tax authorities and the courts in the tax case that implied elaborate and significant evidence administration;
- a high-profile industrial group in various disputes related to commercial, tax (VAT, TP related) and labor law. The tax inspections assessed the reality of intragroup acquisition of works and services, for the purpose of establishing the VAT obligations and other fiscal outstanding debts. The transfer pricing issues relate to interest, management, and IT services;
- several construction groups with respect to tax, public procurement disputes and related arbitration cases concerning the recovery of supplementary work or the return of performance guarantees;
- a client for the setting up and implementation of the VAT-related business model involving coordination of VAT regimes across EU.
