Client successes
- assisted a leading cement company in the first investigation of an alleged collective dominance and other acquisitions and investigations;
- assisted one of the largest banks in Romania in the merger control proceedings involving the acquisition of Bancpost SA and two non-bank financial institutions. The merger has been a very complex one, given that the parties were active on all banking markets and their activities overlapped on most of them;
- assisted a major player active in the SEE online market in the framework of one of the very first investigations into online segment. The lack of clarity of the competition rules applicable to this area and the scarce case law implied a significant effort to argue before the competition authorities the lack of anticompetitive effects and the existence of actual efficiencies;
- assisted the largest cable company on an antitrust complaint submitted to the Competition Council against a large local TV content supplier for refusal to provide its programs on the DTH TV carriage platform; assisting the client with defending against a complaint submitted by a large international content supplier arguing abuse of dominance (the complaint was rejected); assisting the client in a commitment procedure (comments against commitments proposed by a supplier of TV sports rights);
- assisted a local company and its shareholder in connection with the first investigation in the pharmaceutical industry (also the first investigation of an alleged abuse of dominant position).
